“We shall escape the absurdity of growing a whole chicken in order to eat the breast or wing, by growing these parts separately under a suitable medium.”
~ Winston Churchill (Fifty Years Hence 1913)
What if we could enjoy meat without harming our health, the planet, or animals?
At Nutrir, we are transforming this question into reality. Instead of farming animals for meat, we take meat cells and grow it outside an animal for a healthier, more sustainable, and more compassionate meat that doesn’t harm animal lives.
We call this, Cultivated-Meat.
Identical in taste and nutrition.
Using the same cells means Cultivated-Meat with the exact same cellular composition to conventional meat. It also means we can cultivate Cultivated-Meat without sacrificing taste and nutrition.
How is it different from Plant-Based Meats?
Plant-based meat has existed for centuries, and utilizes plant-proteins to mimic the taste of conventional meat. Since plant-proteins are used, it is considered vegetarian.
Cultivated-meat on the other hand, uses animal cells and cultivates it into meat that is identical in taste, nutrition, and the cellular composition. Since meat cells are used, it is not considered vegetarian, and sometimes considered real meat.
Cultivated-Meat Process
-
1. Extract and Isolate Cells
It all begins with sourcing cells from its natural origins. Meat cells are extracted through a small biopsy needle from a farm animal. Cells are then separated into their respective components: muscle cells, fat cells, or blood vessel cells.
-
2. Allow Cells to Grow/Multiply in "Nutrient-Rich Environment"
Cells are then cultivated in a nutrient-rich solution, which allows the cells to undergo its natural replicative process. We allow cells to multiply until it reaches a healthy density level.
-
3. Harvest and Organize Cells to a Meat Structure
Once there are enough cells, at a healthy density, they are harvested for the next step. Unhealthy cells are removed, and healthy cells are then added to a textured edible structure made from plants, adhering to it and forming meat over a few days. The plant structure is slowly degraded by cells, which replaces it with collagen.
Healthier
By replacing unhealthy compounds (such as saturated fats with healthy omega-3 fatty acids), we can cultivate healthier versions of meat. We repeat this with other unhealthy compounds, which means Cultivated-Meat with lower risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Additionally, the final product has zero bacteria, meaning less foodborne. illnesses.
Sustainable
Growing only part of an animal (rather than the whole) means that less resources are used. This leads to 96% less greenhouse emissions, 96% less water used, and 45% less energy being consumed.
Kinder
Every year, 70 billion farm animals are constrained, abused, and slaughtered for meat. Cultivated-meat allows the opportunity to move past this form of meat production, allowing a more compassionate yet delicious alternative.

Our Technology
For Cultivated-Meat to make an impact, it has to be healthy, textured, and affordable. Nutrir aims to revolutionize the way we think about Cultivated-Meat production. In contrast to the standard practice in the industry of using genetically modified cells, recombinant hormones, and synthetics, we use natural cells and plant-extracts (as the nutrient source for the cells to grow). We have reduced costs of goods sold by more than 100 times using this approach. In addition to this, we are able to fabricate 3D muscle-fibres that are thinner than a strand of hair. This fabrication technique allows texture to be recapitulated, in addition to being very scalable.
